Composites made with Nomex® Nano Flex offer significant protection against harmful airborne particles. Nomex® Nano Flex is a lightweight and breathable particulate barrier that exceeds industry and NFPA standards by blocking an average of 96% (BarriAire™ Gold quilted composite) to 98.8% (BarriAire™ Silver laminated composite) of particles between 0.1 and 1.0 microns in size. BarriAire™ Gold quilted composite fabrics recently achieved Viral Filtration Efficiency (VFE) Rating of 96.8% and Bacterial Filtration Efficiency (BFE) Rating of 97.9%. BarriAire™ Silver laminated composite fabrics recently achieved VFE Rating of 99.7% and BFE Rating of 99.9% (VFE and BFE testing as conducted by Nelson Labs, U.S.A.).
BarriAire™ Gold FR quilted composite fabric utilizes two layers of a proprietary blend of meta-aramid and para-aramid fibers for excellent heat, flame, and thermal resistance with superior tensile and tear strength for a longer wear life. The middle layer of DuPont™ Nomex® Nano Flex provides the best combination of particulate efficiency and situational awareness. This lightweight and exceptionally breathable composite is engineered to wick moisture from skin, through fabric, to outer shell where it can evaporate for a drier more comfortable experience. BarriAire™ Gold quilted composite incorporates a proprietary DWR finish which allows for two to three times faster drying than non-treated fabrics while also reducing the build-up of toxic residue that is easily absorbed by non-treated fabrics and also facilitates the release of contaminants during washing. The composite fabric is inherently static resistant and has built-in stretch and recovery. This 3‑layer quilted composite has an Arc Thermal Performance Value (ATPV) rating of 46 with a Hazard Risk Category (HRC) of 4. The 2‑layer rib knit has an Arc Thermal Performance Value (ATPV) rating of 31 with a Hazard Risk Category (HRC) of 3.
BarriAire™ Silver FR laminated composite fabric utilizes two layers of proven flame resistant, DuPont™ Nomex® blended fabrics for high heat, flame, and thermal resistance. The middle layer of DuPont™ Nomex® Nano Flex provides the best combination of particulate efficiency and situational awareness. An innovative gravure dot lamination process covers only 50% of the surface area improving breathability and flexibility. The unique pore matrix created by the DuPont™ Nomex® Nano Flex fiber offers moisture absorption 2½ times faster than traditional PTFE laminated composites while also reducing the risk of steam burns. This lightweight, breathable composite wicks moisture from skin, through fabric, to outer shell where it can evaporate for a drier more comfortable experience. The composite fabric is inherently static resistant and has built‑in stretch and recovery.
Comfort Plus™ fabric was developed by PGI to provide a more comfortable and affordable option to 100% Nomex® hoods. Due to its price and exceptional comfort it became an instant success easily becoming the most demanded hood blend on the market. Comfort Plus™ fabric is made of two proven flame resistant fibers — Nomex® and Lenzing FR®. Together they create an exceptionally durable and comfortable flame resistant fabric that wicks moisture away from the skin more effectively than other flame resistant fabrics. Comfort Plus™ quilted composite binds two layers of Comfort Plus™ fabric with a middle layer of DuPont™ Nomex® Nano Flex that provides the best combination of particulate efficiency and comfort.
BarriAire™ Particulate Barrier Technology products offer more protection, comfort and value. BarriAire™ particulate products combine two layers of proven flame resistant fabric and a middle layer of ultra-lightweight DuPont™ Nomex® Nano Flex fabric which blocks penetration of 96% (BarriAire™ Gold quilted composite) to 98.8% (BarriAire™ Silver laminated composite) of harmful submicron size particulates. BarriAire™ Gold quilted composite fabrics recently achieved Viral Filtration Efficiency (VFE) Rating of 96.8% and Bacterial Filtration Efficiency (BFE) Rating of 97.9%. BarriAire™ Silver laminated composite fabrics recently achieved VFE Rating of 99.7% and BFE Rating of 99.9% (VFE and BFE testing as conducted by Nelson Labs, U.S.A.).
